Uses

Business: Some companies are adopting iPads in their business offices by distributing or making available iPads to employees. Examples of uses in the workplace include attorneys responding to clients, medical professionals accessing health records during patient exams, and managers approving employee requests. It reduce the paper usage.
Education and Healthcare: It has been praised as a valuable tool for homeschooling.The iPad has also been called a revolutionary tool to help children with autism learn how to communicate and socialize more easily. In the healthcare field, iPads and iPhones have been used to help hospitals manage their supply chain.
IN COLOMBIA: I think here the iPad has 50% bad and 50% good usage. Some people only buy it to say: "Yeah! I have an iPad!" and they use it to play, take pictures, film and things like that(entertainment); But other people use it to work, read books, go to the university or study, and that  was the intention of this technological gadget, make easily the movement of a "computer" for workers and students, especially.

History and Evolution

Before launch: The company had a really simple strategy: They want to put an incredible computer in a book that you can carry around with you and learn how to use in 20 minutes.
Apple's first tablet computer was Newton MessagePad 100 in 1993, they also developed a prototype PowerBook Duo-Based tablet but they didn't sell it.
Apple re-entered the mobile-computing markets in 2007 with the iPhone. In 2009 the iPad's release had been rumored but with other names. The iPad was announced in 2010 by Steve Jobs in San Francisco.
First generation: Apple began taking pre-orders for the iPad form US customers in March 12. The WiFi version went on sale on April 3 and WiFi + 3G version was released on April 30.
The iPad was initially only available online at the Apple store as well as the company's retail locations.
Apple sold more than 15 million first-generation iPads.
Second generation: Jobs unveiled the iPad 2 at March 2, 2011. It has a better processor, it includes front and back camera and it retains the original's 10 hour battery life.
Third generation: This one sports the new dual core processor with quad-core graphics and better resolution. There are 2 models: with WiFi and  WiFi + cellular model.
